ROLEX SUBMARINER – 5513 – COMEX
Rolex Submariner – Model ref. 5513 ‘COMEX’ no. 39 with HEV

Originally acquired by Vintage-DB in 2008 directly from legendary ex-comex diver Harry Thompson, COMEX 39 is one of the earliest numbered watches to surface, & from the 1st batch of COMEX used on the Janus Trials.

COMEX 39 accompanied Harry extensively on dives worldwide for 30 years, details of which he has kindly documented via the extensive provenance provided to us along with copies of his Dive Logs from 1978 and 2004.

The watch is presented on a 9315 bracelet, with Rolex UK Service Papers and a letter from Henry Hudson confirming the original delivery by Rolex to COMEX in January 1972.

A superb example of an early valve watch which was used extensively in the environment it was originally designed for. We are therefore delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for a dedicated collector to to acquire a COMEX Submariner with historical significance.

The COMEX 5513s with HEV were only delivered to the COMEX organisation and not available via retailers. It is considered by collectors to be the connoisseur’s COMEX, as approx only 60 are believed to have originated with matt COMEX Logo dials, ensuring it exists in far few numbers than the COMEX 5514.
